Overview
The Most Versatile Timber Window
The crafted casement is the all-rounder of our range, made to measure and easily exceeding the latest British and European standards for weather resistance, thermal efficiency and security. Available as a flush or lipped casement, internally or externally beaded, and hung to suit the room, it looks equally at home on a contemporary new build or a period Sussex cottage.
Flush casement
The sash sits flush within the frame for a clean, understated line that suits modern homes and pared-back interiors. Hand-crafted from sustainably sourced timber, it can be finished with decorative internal mouldings, internal or external beading, and a choice of glazing bars and traditional hardware.
Lipped casement
The lipped sash oversails the frame in the traditional way, giving a stronger, more sculptural profile with excellent weather resistance. It is a natural fit for period and heritage properties, and delivers outstanding levels of energy efficiency, acoustic performance and security.
Opening functions
Ways to Open Your Casements
Every casement is made to measure, so you can choose the opening method that suits each room. The renderings below show the opening action only.
Fixed lights do not open. They work as sidelights or top-lights alongside opening sashes and doors, bringing in extra daylight or completing a particular architectural look. Available in double or triple glazing.
The sash reverses on concealed hinges so you can clean the outside of the glass safely from inside the room, invaluable above ground-floor level. The hinges open to a maximum of 170 degrees (flush casement only). Available in double or triple glazing.
The sash opens up to 90 degrees on concealed friction hinges, giving controllable ventilation, a clean external appearance with no visible stays, and easy cleaning from inside. Available in double or triple glazing.
Top-hung on concealed friction hinges: the top of the frame slides down and the bottom of the sash pushes out, giving highly effective, weather-resistant ventilation. A practical choice for kitchens and bathrooms, available in double or triple glazing.

A flush sash with the bead moved inside, giving a smooth external face and added security.

Questions & answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this window. Cannot see yours? Just ask.
What is the difference between a flush and a lipped casement?
On a flush casement the opening sash sits level within the frame for a clean, understated line. On a lipped casement the sash oversails the frame in the traditional way, giving a stronger, more sculptural profile. Both are made to measure and can be internally or externally beaded.
What opening options are there?
You can choose the opening method room by room: fixed (non-opening) lights, fully reversible sashes for easy cleaning, or side-guided and top-guided friction-hinge openings for controllable ventilation. Every option comes in double or triple glazing.
Can I clean the outside of the glass from inside?
Yes, with the fully reversible option. The sash reverses on concealed hinges, opening to a maximum of 170 degrees on a flush casement, so you can clean the outer face from inside the room, which is invaluable above ground-floor level.
What handles are available?
Three handle designs come as standard, cranked, tear drop and monkey tail, each available in a range of finishes to suit a period or a more contemporary interior.
Do casement windows suit both period and modern homes?
Yes. With flush or lipped profiles, optional glazing bars in three widths, and a wide colour choice, the crafted casement is at home on anything from a contemporary new build to a period Sussex cottage.
